Wow, how cool is this thing? It looks pretty weird, but it’s actually a measuring device for making drinks! I am surely going to need one of these, even if I don’t use it, it’s an awesome conversation piece!
Pre-order here. Coming late summer 2007

Remember last Tuesday when you were grocery shopping at Bloom, and you recognized an acquaintance from high school? You directed your gaze towards them, waiting for them to turn your way so you could say hello. But suddenly they realize they need windex, and not ketchup, so they turn on their heel and are out of that aisle in seconds; leaving you in their dust.
Did the person not notice you? Maybe. Did they not recognize you? It’s possible.
But more than likely they are playing the “game of invisibility.” Just one of the concepts that P.M. Forni discusses in his book Choosing Civility. A simple “hi” or a smile to acknowledge that someone is there and they aren’t invisible really isn’t that much work. It doesn’t take much energy to simply acknowledge others, so why don’t we do it? It’s simply a lesson in civility. “A greeting is a minimal yet meaningful conferral of honor on a person for just being a person. With it, not only do we acknowledge and validate, but we also put at ease and wish well. We announce that we intend to do no harm and express our concern for the well-being of others. As we do so, we invite others to look upon us with the same benign disposition we have toward them. This is the stuff civility is made of.”

I have been searching for this book without even knowing it! This is the kind of thing that people need to work on. There is no reason that we should be acting uncivil towards people. Interpersonal relationships are what make us human, so let’s start being better at them.

Chris has these ugly curtains in his room covering a sliding glass door, and I’ve been telling him forever that I was going to make him new ones. Well I finally started on them! I just got a new sewing machine that actually works, so i’m psyched to start working on it. Here are some pictures of the process.

Chris loves red and I love brown, and we’ve already decided that we want an Asian-inspired bedroom, so these curtains will fit in perfectly when we get a place together! I’ll post more photos when they’re finished.

After hearing about a friend of a friend’s reception that took place at The Ten Oaks Ballroom in Columbia, MD, I went to their website and looked through other sites that the company handles. That is where I found this gem, Chase Court, located in baltimore. It’s amazing and pretty much exactly what we’re looking for. It’s small (aprx 125 guests), different (it has only been open to the public since 2002), unaffiliated with any religious institution, and has a beautiful garden with blooming flowers.
The first destination that I had wanted our ceremony to be was Brookside Gardens in Wheaton. But Chris didn’t like that idea since his parents had part of their wedding there. I knew I wanted to have it at a garden, because with flowers in their natural setting you don’t need much more decoration.
Chase Court even has a little goldfish pond in their garden. I think that my favorite part besides the garden is the gothic revival architecture. I can’t wait to go visit the site to see it in person, because the photos look amazing already!

Don’t you love it when someone asks if you got your sweater from Anthropologie when it was actually a teen-shop clearance purchase? Well I sure do! Who knows how many are left, but every woman who sees herself as a trendsetter should have this sweater! And at $15 you can’t afford not to buy it.

You know you’ve been dying to know what celebrities you resemble!
Here are mine:

Check it out: Celebrity Collage
It gives you ten results that you can pick and choose from for your collage. Hopefully you won’t get Dolly Parton like I did.
There are other neatO tools there too, like CelebWarp that morphs your photo into a celebrity of your choice. Also try the Child Resembleness tool which tells you who your child looks like more.

Who do you think of when you hear Aleve? I’m guessing it would be more along the lines of an arthritic retiree rather than a hip thirty-something who plays pick-up after work.
That’s why Bayer has launched a new marketing initiative directed towards the 25-49 age range. They have created an online scavenger hunt for Aleve Liquid Gels that leads you through wikis, blogs, and video clues. The concept centers on Al and Eve, a scientist, and investigative reporter, respectively. They have teamed up to fight against a group named P.A.I.N. (People Against Internet Networking) who have stopped the liquid flow of information. And of course they need your help. The company hopes that their audience will think this game is so cool that they will forward it to their friends, hence the name viral marketing.

I don’t know how successful it will be however, the comments on the blogs are clearly fake, as you cannot reply to them. Also, the design of the sites are sub-par, and not very “cool.” My prediction is the target audience won’t be fooled. Oh well, you be the judge. Aleviator.com
