Black and Ivory Damask Pillows
Today on my lunchbreak I decided to head over to Ross and see if I could find any damask. I have seen stuff at this type of store before so I was pretty confident that I would find something. They actually didn’t have all that much. They had a couple of frames that were baroque style but not damask. They were mostly silver though and I would really like to stay with black and white. There was a pink damask decorative box, several damask photo albums (but I’ve seen these everywhere so I won’t have trouble finding one when the time comes), and several damask pillows. I took a picture of the ones that would work best in my wedding.. but I didn’t purchase them. They aren’t black and white, they are ivory and black. They are $8.99 each, and Ross has 4 of them. I’m sure I could find a use for them somewhere, they are really beautiful. I wish that they were white rather than ivory though because I think that it’s so much more modern. My other thing is.. I could always make throw pillows myself if I find that I really want to use them.
I also found another damask pillow that was black and silver, it was really nice, but the only one. On one of the shelves was a black and white damask lampshade, but I don’t need anything like that. Unless they were tiny shades to put on small lamp bases.
Has anyone seen any damask at any local stores? If you ever see anything, please send me a PIX message and let me know where it’s from!

Finally, my favorite shoe store has launched their online store. I have been getting emails mentioning it for months, and now it’s here.
I was actually just at DSW a few days before the site was announced, so I didn’t find much that I hadn’t already seen. I did get some really cute finds though. My new favorite brand is Bobbi Blu, they make the cutest shoes. They use great colors and a mix of fabrics and textures. They have a lot of wedges too so that’s always a plus. The first two pairs are both Madden Girl. I couldn’t find an image online of the Bobbi Blu shoes I got, but I am showing a similar pair. The ones I got have more green in them, and the fabric on the sides are in several pieces, very cute!
Check out my purchases:

Here are some other shoes designed by Bobbi Blu, they’re amazing… I might get them all! They range in price from approx $35-$100.

So I get this great newsletter called Daily Candy Deals. They keep me up to date on what’s new, hot, and undiscovered. “From fashion and style to gadgets and travel. As useful as it is entertaining, it’s like getting an e-mail from your clever, unpredictable, and totally in-the-know best friend. The one who knows about secret beauty treatments, must-have jeans, hot new restaurants — and always shares the scoop.” You can subscribe to several metropolitan areas, like DC, Chicago, NYC, etc. I also love their cute illustrations. This week’s candy included a 25% off coupon code for this amazing screen print shop called Luxury Lab Linens. After consulting with Chris I ordered this really cool graphic duvet set, complete with two crow pillow shams. I’m also excited for their throw pillow collection that is coming soon! Thank goodness for daily candy, without this deal I would have never been able to own this wonderful piece of useful art!

I was browsing through one of my favorite sites that I visit daily, delight.com, when I came upon the cutest holiday dishes I’ve ever seen.

These would be great for my annual holiday dinner party… hint hint. I loved these dishes but they could only be used at a certain time of year. So I googled the designer, Rosanna Inc and found that her site was loaded with more adorable dinnerware, I would be happy with almost anything from this site! Here are a few of my top favs, just in case you’re wondering, and i’m sure you are.

This NYC couple simply paints a picture of what they want, auctions it off for the price of the actual item, and then goes out and purchases it. If only this was possible for everyone. But really, who wants the same thing for long enough to duplicate it on canvas?

Want(ed): Another Guitar for Guitar Hero 2, bought for $64.98 (20″ x 16″ canvas)

This passed weekend as I drove back and forth from Chris’s parent’s house and our new place, I noticed a yard sale. What drew me to it were two Japanese Shoji Screens. We didn’t have time to stop at the moment, but I went back later and asked the woman to hold one of them for me for $30 (!). She had originally bought them for $160, and they were still brand new as she never used them. Anyway, I didn’t have cash at the time so I told her I would come back for them later in the day.
Around 3:00 that afternoon I sent Chris over with the money to pick them up, but the yard sale was gone. I figured if I went over there I would be able to figure out which house the lady lived in (because they had taken the screen inside to save it for me). Luckily, I returned, money in hand, and my screen was safely inside their house!
It looks great in our bedroom, what a great find. I’ll post a picture asap.

I started a journal collection awhile back, and I love the way they look displayed on my modern bookshelf. This is such a great idea, I love nicely designed book covers and library books are fun! Tyler Bender takes old books and refashions them into journals and sells them on his Etsy store. These are great, and of course I love the turquoise one pictured above. It would look great in my stash!

Perusing the newspaper at lunch today I came across an amazing spread featuring this fall’s home trends. As you probably already know from previous posts, I’m loving the mirrored finishes, asian inspired decor, and laser cut designs!

Read What to Fall For
After this read I’m going to have to exhibit some powerful self-control to avoid spending all my extra cash on home furnishings! I will have to get creative and break out the paint and glue gun!

Okay so every time I start getting it into my head that I’m moving out soon I go on a furnishings binge. This time it started with the idea that I absolutely must have an ottoman coffee table. I plan on picking out a modern tray (like this mirrored one) to place on top to hold remotes, candles, beer bottles, etc. It will go nicely with our living room couches that are dark brown leather.

After I found the ideal one at a good price I started on the dining table. This has proven to be difficult as I can’t really find one that’s cheap as well as contemporary. I’ve taken to searching craigslist. This is probably something I should wait on until we find an apartment though since dining rooms can be small. However I have found a really cute patio set, from JCPenny no less!

What I’ve really got my eye on though is this amazing chair from a tiny vintage shop in DC. I’m not telling you where though because I don’t want you to buy it!

Other things i’m on the look out for; computer desk and chair, cheap dresser, area rug… this is gonna be expensive. Oh and I purchased a pair of acrylic bubble lamps from target last week. Knock-off Restoration Hardware, works for me! Thinking about this amazing mirrored table from Target as well…

Update: The Target mirrored tray is on sale! It’s in stock at the one in Ellicott City, i’m going to pick it up next week… *YaY* Don’t need the ottoman anymore as I *made* one myself, and I think we will hold off on the patio furniture until we get everything for the inside of the condo.

Replace your boring old marble composition notebook with one of these unique handmade notebooks.
Designed by Sarah Blette, the Flora series is made from recycled paper and features a silk-screened image on its cover. I love the graphic silhouette and rich colors. This would be great for organizing your notes from meetings or class, and it could even be used as a journal.
Come to think of it, this product reminds me of another one that I purchased from See Jane Work.
